"On Monday, we had the pleasure of witnessing the landing of a fine Canadian Horse imported direct from Quebec, in the schooner Fanny. This animal, which was selected by T.B. Tremain Esq., is a dark bay, strong boned, handsomely proportioned, has good action, aged eight years, is strong and active, and seems well adapted for the purposes of this country. This horse has been imported by the Agricultural society, with part of the funds voted by the legislature last session, and agreeably to the resolution of the house of Assembly, will be sold at public auction under certain arrangements."
Colonial Herald, PEI September 5, 1838
" The Canadian Horse recently imported by the Central Agricultural Society was sold by public auction on the 25th of August. It was stated that nothing was known of his pedigree, his age was said to be eight years, his colour dark brown, and his figure good. He was knocked down, after a spirited competition, for 70 pounds, 10 S currency to Mr. John Hyde, Elliot River. The purchaser is bound to keep him in the country, and preserve him entire."
